Achievement Specialists Coaches involved in the GET SMARTER IN A WEEK programme

Achievement Specialists were asked to provide the off screen coaching for the contestants on the Get Smarter In A Week programme. We were honoured that our coaches were selected to contribute in this experiment. All and any request for coaches for work on television, radio or other media is always placed on our achievers area to give all Achievement Specialists coaches an equal opportunity to take part. The Get Smarter In a Week production team contacted Curly outlining the programme, which consists of 100 contestants taking a test followed by a week of exercises and activities to include some physical activity, better sleeping habits, eating healthily, and mind stimulations, remembering tips which sharpen the mind, gain more confidence and aid decision making. The contestants were given a weekly schedule to follow and an individual coaching session with one of The Achievement Specialists coaching team.

Curly was initially asked to take part (off screen) in the trial run of 15 volunteers, who each followed the 'get smarter' schedule for a week. During the trial week Curly coached each of the individual volunteers, helping them to focus on actions to improve their personal results by selecting the most appropriate activities or exercises and getting commitment to take action during the week. After the week the trial volunteers took a second test.

The production team expected the trial volunteers would improve around 10% on the original test results. Interestingly, some of the trail volunteers performed up to 40% better in the second test than they had in the initial test. One contestant had been celebrating on a stag night the evening before the second test and his score had dropped by 20% - demonstrating that alcohol can impair mental function.

The trail was successful, which led to a 100 volunteers from around the UK taking part in the same experiment which was filmed. Again the contestants were given coaching over the telephone and this time a team of coaches from Achievement Specialists took part in the sessions. Curly put the details of the coaching required on our Achievers Forum and requested any interested coaches contact the office. A team of qualified enthusiastic coaches was organised. The coaches were:-

Again, the coaches worked individually with the contestants off screen. The contestants committed to taking action and set themselves goals for the week based on the Get Smarter Manual. The results will be unveiled in two separate hours of prime time television on BBC1 on Saturday night 11th March.
